Creative: Luke Partridge, Creative Director, Hudson Rouge; Recom Farmhouse, Retouching
Client: Lincoln Continental
For Lincoln's 80th Anniversary Continental Coach Doors Edition, they wanted a fresh approach: rather than a dealer brochure, they opted for a Vogue-style layout, where a fashion-forward woman leads the viewer from her minimalist house in Palm Springs to the rocky hills of the high desert.

Title: La Caravana Del Diablo
In January 2020, fleeing violence and poor economic conditions, Hondurans organized a massive migrant caravan that traveled through Guatemala into Mexico. After traveling eight days, the caravan crossed the Suchiate River into Mexico and were met by the recently established Guardia Nacional composed of former federal, military and naval police. Mexican President, Andrés Manual López Obrador has historically called for safe passage for migrants, but when US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs, Mexico reversed its policy and deployed soldiers to keep Central American migrants from entering Mexico. Migrants attempting to enter Mexico split into two major groups. The largest group crossed the Suchiate River and were tear gassed by the Guardia Nacional. Their second attempt across the river (at four in the morning) was a success but it was only hours later that the Guardia Nacional surrounded them, put them on busses and sent them back to Honduras. The smaller group amassed in the border town El Ceibo in Guatemala. and were met by Julio Cesar Sanchez Amaya the head of foreign relations in Mexico. He welcomed migrants in groups of 10 to enter Mexico and seek asylum. Migrants were briefly kept in detention centers and against Julio's word they were deported back to Honduras without given the opportunity to seek asylum. Trump has barred asylum seekers from entering the US by threatening to impose tariffs and cut foreign aid to Central American countries. The human cost of Trump’s political agenda is denying people their fundamental human rights.

Agency: Getty Images
Creative: Josie Gealer-Ng, Art Director, Getty Images; Guy Merrill, Global Head of Art, Getty Images
Althought World Pride celebrations generate a positive uptick in advertisements celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, during the rest of the year, representation of LGBTQ+ people in advertising and media tends to fall short on authenticity. This series includes photographs and interviews with five young LGBTQ+ couples to find out what they think about the representation of the LGBTQ+ community in the media, and how love and inclusivity are portrayed.

Title: "I died 22 times"
War does not only manifest itself as a military conflict on battlefields with clear physical fronts, it also appears more abstractly in societies in various places. "I Died 22 Times" looks at the way warfare is waged outside real battlefields. The series combines images of weapons fairs–war as business–with the motives of airsoft, a leisure activity–war as a game. Both scenarios have one thing in common: war is staged as something entertaining and consumable.

The Saint John Will-I-Am Coltrane African Orthodox Church in San Francisco recently celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. Title: A Saturday Evening During Lockdown
Publication: The New York Times
As the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic has grown throughout the world and in my home state of Colorado, my fiancé and I have been retreating both physically and emotionally from our community. We've been isolating at my grandmother's now-vacant homestead deep in the Great Plains of Eastern Colorado. I spent much of my childhood growing up in this once-vibrant house. With these photographs I hope to capture the unsettling and deeply nostalgic feeling that many of us are left with–a somber uncertainty for the future and a loss for the times left behind.

Title: Still Life with Son
Since early March, my family and I have been sequestered at our little stone house in the woods of New York's Hudson Valley. In an effort to maintain sanity, I began collaborating on a new still life series with my three-year-old son, Nino, who started painting these wild, vibrant pictures which resemble the colors and textures of the rural landscape surrounding our home. According to him, themes include the quarry across the road, the maple trees at dusk, an imaginary forest fire and being trapped under ice (he really likes Metallica). I asked him if he wanted to make some photographs with me, and "Still Life with Son" was born.

Title: Mekoryuk, USA
Situated in the Bering Sea off the western coast of mainland Alaska, the remote 1600 square miles of sprawling volcanic tundra that composes Nunivak Island is abundant with wild musk ox, reindeer, seal, foxes, migratory birds, and spawning salmon, and other species. It is also home to the lone native village of Mekoryuk, population 200. One of the last native communities in America to come under Western influence, Mekoryuk presents an insight into identity in the face of constant transition: a generation of Cup'ig youth navigating two economically and philosophically divergent cultures; a tight-knit Christian community combating decades of substance abuse issues; a threatened subsistence lifestyle and unique language; the rapid onset of social media and connected devices; suicide and depression; severe climate change; emigration in pursuit of opportunity; and a growing reindeer operation that promises wider economic prosperity.

Title: Sans Body
In the series, "Sans Body," physically constructed faces mimic the logic of virtually rendered expressions. Assembled with paper and tubular forms, and made entirely in-camera, the emoji-like abstractions point to the growing remoteness of the physical body as humans become more immersed in digital technology. Although the physical body is absent, human-ness and material labor is at the forefront of each composition. In many ways, the fragmented objects address the current status of communication: largely filtered through a two-dimensional screen, sans physical touch, and the online quarrels that yield startling reactions.

Title: Spring Hasn't Come Yet
Every day during the COVID-19 pandemic, I photographed what happened around me in Shanghai, the city I have been calling home for the last five years. I focused on what I felt most during the phases of the virus' spread: fear, uncertainty and distance. I let the city talk for me, expressing my emotions (and hopefully others' emotions) during the lockdown and its aftermath.

Title: Cholitas Escaladoras
The "Climbing Cholitas" or "Cholitas Escaladoras Bolivianas" are a group of Aymara indigenous women who are breaking stereotypes and shifting perceptions. Last year they summited the 22,841-foot peak of Mt. Aconcagua, the highest mountain outside of Asia. They eschewed traditional climbing clothing and gear in favor of traditional, vibrantly-colored dresses and shawls to carry their equipment. The word "Cholita" has been used as a pejorative term for the indigenous Aymara women of Bolivia, but now they're reclaiming the term as a word of power.

Title: Migration in the Rio Grande Valley
The Rio Grande Valley, a 180-mile stretch in southern Texas, bordering Mexico, has long been a focal point for migrants entering the United States. In 2019, the number of undocumented migrants entering the Rio Grande Valley soared, and government facilities filled to capacity. These drone-aerial and still images offer a glimpse into the lives of asylum-seeking migrants as they make the perilous journey northbound in search of a better future.

Title: Final Farewell
In Aceh Province, Sumatra, Indonesia, Veterinarian Zulhilmi wraps a one-month-old baby orangutan in a green surgical drape half an hour after her death. She was rescued from a palm oil plantation with her mother, Hope, who was found completely blind and with a broken clavicle and 74 air rifle bullet wounds. Indonesia's Sumatran orangutan is under severe threat from the ongoing depletion of the rainforest. As palm oil plantations, logging, road construction, mining, and hunting continue to proliferate, orangutans are being forced out of their natural rainforest habitat. Organizations rescue orangutans who are having difficulties with the goal to reintroduce them into the wild and to create genetically viable populations in protected forests. Today, with 14,000 specimens left, the Sumatran orangutan is listed as critically endangered.

Title: Revolution Now!
What began as peaceful marches against a controversial extradition bill in mainland China morphed into a full-blown, pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. The protestors' "five key demands"–including universal suffrage, greater autonomy from China, and an investigation into acts of police brutality–were met with violent police crackdowns. Amidst a hypermodern cityscape laden with futuristic high-rises and omnipresent screens, black-clad youth with improvised arms and armor faced down Asia's best-trained and equipped police force. Even universities became battlefields, wreathed in tear gas and flames. Against this backdrop, "Revolution Now!" documents the struggle of Hong Kong's youth to speak truth to power, and questions the pro-democracy movement's uncertain future in the face of totalitarianism.

Title: The Shining Land
"The Shining Land" aims to explore the loneliness, isolation and adaptation to extreme cold in the remote Russian towns of Mirny, Udachny, Aykhal and Nakyn, where winter temperatures fall to -50° C. These towns are examples of what Russians call "monogorods" (towns dominated by a single company). Here, more than 50% of the population works for Alrosa, the largest diamond company in Russia. The living conditions here are unique: memories of these cities being closed and feelings of yearning for the Communist era mix with the harsh conditions of life in the permafrost.

Title: ABANDONED ELDERLY - ROMANIA AND BULGARIA
In Romania and Bulgaria, thirty years post Communist rule, many elderly people are living in isolated communities on old collective farms. They receive pensions so low they hardly cover food expenses. Every winter many widows and widowers freeze to death because of lack of firewood. They live in old dilapidated houses and apartments in rural villages, far from family and friends. Days are spent foraging in the forest for wild mushrooms and berries, collecting firewood and corn for their few animals. Families rarely visit. This series shows the extreme challenges of living alone and isolated in the last years of one's life.

Title: The Kung Fu Nuns of the Himalayas
In July 2019, the Kung Fu Nuns of the Buddhist Drukpa lineage held their third annual seven-day self-defense workshop for local females in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Thirty-eight females between 6 and 27 years old started their days at the Naropa Photang nunnery at 5 a.m., and were held to a strict routine, including three two-hour-long Kung Fu trainings per day. Aimed at helping young girls build confidence and physical strength, the workshop included intensive martial arts and self-defense exercises. The nuns challenge gender roles in their conservative culture and fight against the biggest threat for women in the region: sexual violence. In India, a female is raped every 20 minutes, making it the most dangerous place to be a woman, according to a 2018 survey by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Title: A buzkashi game
A Friday game of buzkashi in Mazār-e Sharīf, Afghanistan. With over 100 horsemen and seemingly no rules, this vicious form of polo is Afghanistan’s national sport. The object of the game is to grab a headless, disemboweled animal carcass (often a calf or a goat) and deliver it to the goal. Photographed on November 29, 2019 in Mazār-e Sharīf, Afghanistan.

Creative: All production, photography and retouching by Analog is Heavy
"Summer Fruit" is a self-directed project that playfully celebrates the texture, color and materiality of summer's trending handbags through still-life narratives. The bags recline, lean or lay against a backdrop of ripe fruit and woven strips of lawn chair nylon, as if they are tired and sun-scorched. The final series was used as a summer promotional campaign across digital platforms and printed as large postcards for print collateral.

J.J. is a 13-year-old boy with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The disease, more common in males, causes progressive weakness and loss of muscular mass. This process speeds up once the person is wheelchair-bound. J.J.is also on the autism spectrum. Every member of his family is also on the autism spectrum. The family has had several strokes of luck in the last six months: they were able to buy a specialized van that allows them to travel with J.J's wheelchair; they will be able to receive J.J.'s osteoporosis medication free of charge; they went on a Disney cruise through the Make-A-Wish foundation; and Habitat for Humanity has found land for their new home.

Title: Anecdotes from an Unfamiliar Land
For me, Germany seems unfamiliar. After my youth in the province, I moved to Germany's largest metropolitan area. Social differences, different life realities and strong political opinions became part of my everyday life. The change between city and country life makes this noticeable to me again and again, leaves me confused and with the feeling of being in between. In my previous home area, the Sauerland, many people identify themselves through traditions and history. This was something that I could not find in the milieus of the larger cities; there it was often met with aversion. This leads me to question my German-ness and to reveal a comprehensive, alternative and personal view of Germany, asking the question: what does it mean to be German? Over the course of several road trips, I traveled through rural Germany to look for occasions where people escape from their everyday life, identify with traditions and history and take on roles, dress up or stage themselves.

Title: Just East of Now
Rural Australia was once a thriving, prosperous area, with millions of Australians choosing the freedom of the bush over the crowded, fast-paced city life. Recently, many people have chosen to leave the land for opportunities in the cities. The remaining rural residents are left to grapple with the strain of an isolated and arduous existence. This series documents the demise of my hometown, Quairading, in rural Western Australia, and depicts Blue Collar people living lives of quiet desperation, portraying everyday struggle and ordinary tragedy, as they feel their way through the dark, hoping that things will improve.

Title: Measure and Middle - COVID-19 in Germany
German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke out in favor of a "measure and middle" approach to the novel coronavirus. On February 28, 2020, with less than 50 confirmed infections in Germany, large parts of the population did not believe that the virus could harm the country, which has one of the best healthcare systems and the strongest market economies in Europe. Despite more than 170,000 confirmed cases, the situation in Germany appears to differ from that in neighboring countries: a large percentage of the population supports the government's strict regulations, the health system has not yet collapsed and the percentage of fatalities is comparatively low. My photographic journey took me across 9,000 km of a mostly shut-down Germany, from the frontlines to the backyards of the coronavirus crisis, where I took photographs to create a comprehensive and personal document of the situation.

Title: ebenda
(2018 – 2020)
A story about family life in the large housing estate Steilshoop in Hamburg, Germany. Two and a half square kilometres in size, 20,000 inhabitants. Realized between 1969 and 1975 as a measure against the housing shortage. At that time considered as an ideal solution and social utopia, the social image has meanwhile moved towards a mainly negative public perception.

For a period of one and a half year, the photographers Marina Cordes an Signe Heldt got to know families who call this settlement their home. They sought closeness, questioned social ideas and took part in intimate everyday scenes. The pictures, in which the harsh beauty of a dense architecture mixes with idyllic greenery, invite to own interpretations about the life in the quarter.

Title: BOYHOOD
"Boyhood" explores the transient period of adolescence. Inspired by my experience of growing up in a military environment and facing certain pressures throughout my younger years, I wanted to break with the traditional silhouette of the suit by photographing young men wearing softer knit and mesh fabrics with the more common suit trouser and jacket. This is a softer approach to boyhood set against the strong uniformed environment of a military base and living quarters.

Title: In Place
I choose personal objects, then organize and assemble them in different corners of the house to make a new space. These installations are created intuitively and experimentally while thinking about simplicity, delicacy and minimalism. This playful action makes the familiar unfamiliar and releases the way we are accustomed to regarding objects, rendering them meaningful, while morphing ordinary spaces in the home into fantastic, imaginary realms.

Title: Children as passports
Production: Lorena Arroyo and Esther Poveda
Cinematography & Editing: Esther Poveda
In a time of "zero tolerance," arriving at the U.S. border with a child has become the best passport for tens of thousands of Central American migrants. While President Trump tries to close the border to those desperately fleeing their country because of violence and lack of opportunities, the U.S.-Mexican border is being overwhelmed by the massive arrival of families. Civic and religious groups are trying to handle the humanitarian emergency.

Title: Birth Wars
Mexico has a rich history of midwifery, especially in indigenous communities. Here authorities have sidelined midwives and are pressuring women to give birth in hospitals. As a result, midwives feel rejected and persecuted by the government, and pregnant women fear mistreatment and discrimination in hospitals. Cesarean rates are 49 percent in Mexico, in contrast to the WHO country recommendation of 15 percent.
